Great Lakes and St. Lawrence Green Infrastructure Conference

The first ever Great Lakes and St. Lawrence Green Infrastructure Conference will draw up to 1,000 professionals from Canada and the U.S. This is the first conference to focus on using green infrastructure across the landscape with a primary goal to benefit the Great Lakes.

Assessing River Ecosystem Challenges in a Changing Environment

A focus this year will be identifying and assessing challenges relating to fish health, contaminants and population changes in the light of a changing ecosystem. Topics are expected to explore issues relating to climate change and invasive species impacts, contaminant sources and uptake, fish consumption concerns and other problems affecting our ecosystem.

June 2017 is Coastal Awareness Month in the State of Indiana! The Lake Michigan Coastal Program and partners are working together to develop a wide variety of events to celebrate the diversity and beauty of the Lake Michigan Coastal Region. Events highlight natural, cultural and historic resources in the Coastal Region of Indiana—Lake, Porter, and LaPorte counties. The goal is to increase public awareness of these coastal resources and engage people in fun and educational activities that take them places they may have never been before.

Frog-Bit Challenge
Alpena, MI
Huron Pines and the Northeast Michigan Cooperative Weed Management Area are hosting the second year of the Frog-Bit Challenge. We will be hosting volunteer events and helping people identify and pull invasive frog-bit from the Thunder Bay River Watershed throughout the summer, with the goal of pulling 20,000 lbs! We can provide maps and pulling supplies as well as labor assistance for interested volunteers. Anyone in Michigan who wants to pull frog-bit can record what they pull on our website and we'll recognize their efforts at a celebration event and online.
